About Us

The Palm Beach Rowing Association is a volunteer, member-managed, non-profit rowing organization located at 2957 North Australian Avenue on Lake Mangonia in West Palm Beach. The purpose of the club is to encourage and promote the sport of amateur rowing among men and women both nationally and internationally by providing and maintaining an excellent rowing facility for its members.

Lake Mangonia is a superb South Florida rowing venue. Because it is part of the Palm Beach County reservoir system, no gasoline powered boats are allowed on the lake. (From time to time we do have a few slow-moving fishing boats with small silent electric motors.) We have a 2000+ meter straight course and a buoyed perimeter course of more than 6000 meters.

PBRA contributes to the West Palm Beach community through supporting competitive and recreational rowing and through its stewardship of the lakefront in front of the club.

Learn-to-Row Program

Because of the restriction regarding power boats, PBRA does not have a learn-to-row program. There is a learn-to-row program at the Florida Rowing Center in Wellington.

Boathouse

PBRA has a one-bay boathouse with storage for 30 boats; a fitness area with a Tuff Stuff multifunction trainer, more than 300 pounds of free weights, a weight bench, weight rack and upright row bench; two Concept 2 ergs; a workbench and a bathroom and shower. The club has a fleet of four singles, a double and a quad together with space for approximately 22 private boats. Because many of the members own their own singles, there is no waiting list or sign-up requirement for the club boats. The boathouse is 40 meters from the water. We have a wet launch. No dock.

PBRA “Fluid Fleet”

The club fleet presently consists of four Fluid 1x’s ranging from lightweight to heavyweight, one Fluid 2X midweight and one Fluid heavyweight 4x/4-. All boats are in new condition.

Also, for those wanting slightly more stability, we have a Maas Aero wide bodied trainer.

Additionally, the club has 18 lockers that can be used either by the day or seasonally. Members must provide their own locks if they want to lock their lockers. And their own towels if they want to use the shower. Soap is provided! There is no charge for lockers.

Additionally, the club has a boat trailer to transport large boats to regattas. For singles events, members car-top their boats.

PBRA welcomes new members
